The Loon by Hilary Dufour
ink, acrylic on toned tan paper
I was camping next to a lake in “the land of the midnight sun” (Alaska) when I heard the haunting call of a loon for the first time. Even in the middle of the night, in between dark and light, the loons were active and their wails and yodels could be heard across the lake. Loons can also be spotted along San Diego’s coastline from winter until early spring.
